   1. Basic structure of gravity casting machine

1. Mold system
 
The mold system is one of the core parts of gravity casting machine. It is usually composed of sand mold or metal mold to contain molten metal and form the required casting shape. Sand mold is mainly made of materials such as quartz sand, binder and additives, and has good heat resistance and air permeability. Metal mold is made of materials such as steel or aluminum alloy, which is suitable for mass production and high precision castings. The design and manufacture of molds need to take into account factors such as the size, shape, wall thickness of the casting to ensure the quality and production efficiency of the casting.
 
2. Pouring system
 
The pouring system includes sprue, runner and ingate. The molten metal enters the runner through the sprue and then flows into the mold cavity through the ingate. The reasonable design of the pouring system is crucial to control the metal flow rate and avoid problems such as slag inclusion and pores. For example, a reasonable pouring system can reduce the porosity defects inside the casting and improve the density and mechanical properties of the casting.
 
3. Cooling system
 
The function of the cooling system is to provide uniform cooling conditions during the solidification of the casting to avoid cracks and deformation caused by uneven cooling rates. Common cooling methods include water cooling, air cooling and natural cooling. For large castings, special cooling channels may also be required to accelerate the cooling process. In addition, some high-end gravity casting machines are also equipped with temperature monitoring and control devices to achieve precise control of the cooling process of the casting.
 
4. Control system
 
The control system is the "brain" of the gravity casting machine and is responsible for coordinating the work of various systems. It includes electrical control systems, hydraulic control systems and computer-aided control systems. The electrical control system is responsible for controlling electrical components such as motors and solenoid valves; the hydraulic control system is used to drive actuators such as hydraulic cylinders and hydraulic motors; the computer-aided control system can monitor and optimize the entire casting process.
